Searching and Adding Data Subjects

This article explains how to use the search bar to locate individuals (data subjects) in the system and how to add a new data subject to the Subject DB.

Search bar

You can use the Search bar to search for data subjects (individuals). It appears by clicking on the "Find subject" icon in Navigation.

Advanced search

It is activated by clicking on icon with magnifying glass on the left side of search bar. Search page is displayed and you are able to search for subject by same fields that are enable to add new subject in database. To manage which fields will be enabled in advanced search see GDPR Explorer UI Administration and choose fields in Personal data storage tab.


Search results

Once you start typing the search starts to shows you the results, as you continue typing, the result will narrow down.


Finally you will end up with only the closest selection fitting your search term.


You can spot the correct individual based on other visible attributes. In this case surname and email. Clicking on the tile of an individual will open his Personal Data Overview. 



Adding new person to Subject DB


If you can't find the person you are looking for in the search results, you need to add this person to the Subject DB. To find out more about how the Subject DB works go over to the Getting started with GDPR Explorer.


You can initiate the adding by clicking on the plus sign at the end of the search bar or by clicking on the button that reads "Unable to find specific person? ...".


You can custom which fields will be enabled, required and exportable to add new subject to the database. You can manage these and additional settings in Administration. For more information about options see GDPR Explorer UI Administration. By clicking on the CREATE SUBJECT button you will add this person to the subject DB. You will see a notification at the bottom of the screen confirming success.
